Some love for the Towel Boy

Today’s the birthday of our Co-#1 Fan. He’s the guy who designed our logo. He’s the guy who designed the cover art for Roboctopus (and will be designing the art for Musicians of Sound). He’s the guy who has to defend us to his work friends when we’re complete assholes [...]

And you thought you had a tub!

What a big guy! 44 pounds of luv-able tub. Check it out:

Jimmy’s Russian Doppleganger

I think this guy and Jimmy went to the same school of introducing your work, where they both majored in “Your Audience Is A Bunch Of Bumbling Half-Wits Anyway, So Why Are You Even Wasting Your Time Trying To Explain Your Brilliance?”
From the introduction to the Russian modern art museum ART4.ru, as highlighted by the [...]

They lied to us!

Should’ve seen that coming. They’re not called Leopold and His True Stories, after all.
No show on Thursday at the East End! Instead, we’ll be drinking fruity vodka drinks on various patios across the city.

If only we were playing Barnstock.

A cover song idea:

Customized version:
Jem switches to Dym
The “Misfits” change to whoever we’re playing with that night.

Two more from the photo shoot

Yeah, yeah, I’ve been behind on my blogging. Bite me. But before you do that, here’s a couple more photos by Famous Artist Jedidiah Chavez:

DOGS IN THE PARK

TARDS IN THE PARK

Um,…….someone stole Jed’s idea

eMusic sales update

We sold two albums on eMusic, for a grand total of $12.58… WE ARE RICH.
Thanks to our album containing 17 tracks, that’s a lot closer to the $7/album we get from iTunes than I thought it would be.

Our lawn signs kill candidates

This election cycle, Eloise and I had two lawn signs. Here are the results of the elections:
Steve Novick
42% of the vote (221,402); lost to Jeff Merkley who had 45% of the vote (237,258)
Jim Middaugh
22% of the vote; lost to Nick Fish who had 62% of the vote
It’s a good thing we didn’t get around [...]

Take your time, enjoy

Because dressing up a cat is even funnier in Japanese.
1. You need to dress a cat. And you will say to a cat together with a family. “It has changed just for a moment”. [ "it being very dear" or ] You will pass pleasant one time.

Things we learn from Focus Group Test Marketing

Let’s examine the data accumulated thus far. These results may be preliminary, but certain distinct trends are apparent even at this early stage.
If we take “popularity” to indicate “songs enjoyed most often by the widest variety of consumers,” here are our most popular songs on the 61:

Everybody Hates Me
Roboctoresignation
I’m Happy With What You Are
Seroquel
Bing’s [...]

Someday I Will Stop Loving Harper’s

But not today.
First, Mr. Fish.

(Click for a larger image.)
Second, Ken Silverstein:
That said, there are a few things that make me like Hillary. First, she’s a bloodthirsty monster who’ll stop at nothing in her quest for power. That is refreshing, given that the Democrats’ default presidential-campaign strategy is to whine about how rough the Republicans play [...]

PDX Pop Now! Hates “Roboctowho?”

I blame Djerzi. Or maybe I blame the 61 for not telling us sooner that “Everybody Hates Me” is, in fact, the most popular song on Roboctopus. Or I blame myself for ever entertaining the idea that a song where I sing lead might have a chance against Menomena, Kristen Hersh, and The [...]

I love you, egg.

So the other night Eloise and I were talking about how we’d like to write some girl-vocal style songs. Then we both admitted that writing the lyrics is where the problem lies. Here is an example of a song comperable to my ability:

Free Comic Book Day

Alright. Who’s going to Free Comic Book Day tomorrow? I don’t care which one of you goes, but one of you better pick me up the Dark Horse Hellboy issue.
Here’s the store locator. Find one near you!
Eloise and I will be in Kingsburg, CA, for my brother’s wedding. They don’t even [...]

We need better pictures

Alright, now that we made the “main page” on the61 I’ve become obsessed with it. I want more people to listen and love “I’m happy with what you are” because it’s good. We seriously need some better pictures there. I DO judge books by their covers! Therefore I judge songs by their photos on the61. [...]

Who the hell is Jim Middaugh?

The Portland Mercury is kind enough to tell you about his stance on the arts.
Sadly, Amy Ruiz didn’t ask about his position on giving Delightful Young Man $100,000 to write and stage Testify or Grabass.

How To Win An Election (Or At Least Provide Entertainment While Trying)

I swear to G-d, once Steve wins the primary and advances to the general to take down Gordon Smith, we are going to write his campaign theme song.
It’ll be called “Ok, Sure, Maybe He Supports The Death Penalty, But Only In Very Limited Cases, So It Probably Won’t Ever Apply To You Anyway.”
Addendum: Here’s [...]

It’s no Garfield Minus Garfield

But Dark Horse has a new comic strip appearing in their forums called Truth Serum.
Oh, and apparently the Portland Mercury is considering replacements for the Perry Bible Fellowship. If you know what’s good for you, you’re gonna vote for Achewood, because Achewood IS THE SHIT.
