Barnstock
And, of course, it’s the song I played least competently. Oh, well. At least Eloise sounds good. And if you use your imagination, you can pretend that you hear Monkey playing something.

I strongly recommend that everyone listen to the Ricky Gervais on.. series.
I’m currently listening to the one on natural history, and it’s just about the most absurd thing I’ve heard. Looks like Amazon has them for a couple of bucks each. Haven’t checked the iTunes.

For those of you who suddenly now can’t wait for the next Achewood book:
The joy of garage sales.
I think we might begin Operation Harass Chris Onstad Until He Let’s Us Write An Achewood Rock Opera.

I just spent the last two days trying to write lyrics about the fall of the Ottoman empire for “The Princess is in Another Castle (working title).”
I wrote it from the POV of the Sultan, from the POV of the Sultan’s daughter, from the POV of a small village at the edge of [...]

It’s been a fantasy of mine that the reason Pynchon takes so long to publish novels is because he’s been working on six or seven giant projects at once, and they’ll all get published one month before his death (may that day be long in coming). I have never had any proof of this.
But [...]

I wasn’t one of the people who jumped on the Kerry Sucks! bandwagon after he lost the election. I always liked the guy. OK, he was a terrible presidential candidate, but if Gore had picked him over the-guy-who-gets-insulted-bigtime-without-naming-names-in-this-interview for VP, he might’ve been our 44th president. Obama would’ve had to wait for 45.
Yes, I’m assuming [...]

Alright, so we haven’t been playing shows the past few months. Our fans are growing anxious, or just moving on. However, there are those dedicated few who want the band to prosper. They look up to us in some weird way. Like we’re Rock Gods who descended from the heavens. This is partly true, but [...]

Thanks to the ceaselessly innovative nature of Swedish scientists, we now know our Myers-Briggs personality type.
I have to say, the results were somewhat surprising:

The latest incarnation of Modesto is now up at the SixtyOne.
People who don’t really like anything else I’ve written generally tell me that this is their favorite song of mine. I’ve often wondered what I’m supposed to do with that information. “Write more two chord songs” might be the answer. Then again, [...]

You know, a while back, when I was telling you all about how Achewood is the funniest comic strip I’ve read in a good long time?
Read this and regret not taking me seriously the first time around.

Well, for good reason. It’s gotta be a pain in the ass, that ever since 1982 he (or someone else) has had to write this kind of column at least once a year.
Ignorance must really be bliss. How else, over so many years, could the G.O.P. get away with ridiculing all things liberal? Troglodytes [...]

At the age of 71.
Strangely, for the past two mornings my iPod has been set to wake me up to “Eastbound and Down.”
Here’s this:
Bizarrely, Jerry Reed’s career (and self-image) was somehow able to survive this:

In July, we made a whopping $7 from iTunes… followed by an additional $10.36 from eMusic! I can’t wait to tell our accountant!
If you add in the $29 we made off with from the Towne Lounge show, I’d say it’s never been a more lucrative time to be a member of Team DYM. We’ve got [...]

Another track for the Jimmy Kaufmann solo EP is up. One more to go.
This one I kind of feel bad about doing solo. It almost sounds like a sketch for a DYM song… but I still can’t quite shake the feeling that there’s something inherently shitty about it, so maybe all is for [...]
