Thinking of Opening a Witchcraft Supply Store in Your Town?

Then this site has some helpful tips you should read.
Unfortunately, they buried the most important piece of advice:
“DO NOT CALL YOURSELF A WITCHCRAFT STORE.”
Also, this seemed appropriate:

And you thought you had a tub!

What a big guy! 44 pounds of luv-able tub. Check it out:

Volgende halte

In Amsterdam, the right of way goes something like this:
1. Bicycles
2. Scooters
3. Pedestrians
4. Buses
5. Cars
In some parts of the city, trams/trains obviously take the first spot, but even then they’ll have to wait until the bicycles get out of their way to start moving.
Every street has a bike lane that, to Americans, looks [...]

East End, 7-10-08

For those of you who weren’t invited to the Beer Olympics Triathalon, we’ll be playing at least two more shows this summer. First up: the East End, with a duo from San Francisco called Leopold and His Fiction.
That’s right. Click on the link, and you’re taken to a website featuring a blurb from [...]

And now the onslaught

Since I’m a goddamn masochist, I’ll be signing us up for every new music site that appears on my radar. Yes, there’s another one:
Stereofame
I haven’t taken the time to really look into this yet, but I just uploaded four songs.
EDIT: Make that two songs. There seems to be some sort of [...]

Our Photo Shoot with a Famous Artist

Famous artist Jedidiah Chavez gave us a preview of the photos he took this past Sunday. Here we are, playing poker.

Tally Ho, or Kiwi Rock: A Video Primer

Middle Earth television produced a retrospective documentary about indie rock label Flying Nun a few years back, and it’s now available on YouTube, in nine parts, here.
It’s a fairly fascinating look at the Kiwi scene from the late ’70s through the early ’00s, and it’s notable for two things: 1. New Zealand is pretty much [...]

Plans Vs. The Finite

Here at DYM, we’re in the unfortunate position of having too many ideas and not enough time to bring them all to life.
What’s odd about all this is that it’s not always the best ideas that get acted upon. Sure, a rock opera about a couple of robot octopi is a decent [...]

If you’re thinking of visiting Manhattan

I highly recommend the Red Roof Inn located in Little Korea, in no small part thanks to the complimentary “No Goldfish… No Wheatgrass… Gazette,” which is apparently written by a team of schizophrenics held hostage in the hotel basement. Here’s an excerpt from Gazette No. 91, Week of Monday, March 10, 2008:
Aren’t we forgetting [...]

Speaking of John Cale

Wow. First, this is another amazing song. Second, do not stop watching this video during the first 40 seconds. It gets… “better”?

We should totally do this

By “this,” I’m obviously referring to the American Idol Songwriter Contest.
If only the deadline were sometime this summer… I guarantee that we could come up with the biggest crock of shit power ballad the world has ever seen.
Maybe next year.
Whoa, those words were kind of depressing to type. Because almost without thinking [...]

Our Neighbors are Famous

A couple years ago, Beth from the Gossip rented a room in the house next door to us. Then she got all famous and moved away.
Now I read in the Mercury a nice little blurb about the New Bloods, a band our neighbor on the other side is in.
I guess we should [...]

Because some of you don’t click through the links

This has been extensively blogged about elsewhere, but since Eloise claims to have “missed it,” I may as well use this space to direct the rest of you to something you might have already seen.
It’s pure genius, plain and simple:
Garfield Minus Garfield
What the hell, here’s one of my favorites:

Popularity Contest

“Ben, I Wish You Were My Girlfriend” is, according to the 61, our least popular song. Now, I’m not going to claim that it’s a great song or anything, but I really thought more people would like it. This may be one of those cases where I think a song is much, much better than [...]

Parthenogenesis

No embedding, but this is the song I was talking about a while ago, Djerzi.
My god it’s awesome.

Well that was quick

And the winner is Seroquel!

What I Got For Christmas

A brand new iPod!1
Oh, and it looks like you people will be getting a holiday video after all, thanks to a thoughtful gift I received from Pennystripe.
Actually, my old-ass iPod decided to wipe itself clean of the 60GB of music it had accumulated over the past few years, including numerous albums and songs that I [...]

A Holiday Video

Not from us, obviously.
The linked video is a nice experiment in psychological profiling. I’ve never gone out of my way to watch David Letterman, but he’s always amused me–particularly with his “I Will Keep Beating This Dead Horse Until It’s Funny Again” schtick.
Then again, I’m a big fan of being easily amused.

Horrible Disfigurement

For those of you that missed it on the Mercury blog, here’s what happens when you go around bragging about your upcoming wedding.

So now Joel is back

What year is it?  It’s not 1991, that’s for damn sure.  But it is Thanksgiving, which means it must be time to think about MST3K. Remember those crazy pre-Stewart & Colbert years when Comedy Central couldn’t afford movie rights to the latest ex-SNL star vehicles and had to run Mystery Science Theater all damn day?

Dr. Forrester [...]
