My DYM good deed for the week.

So this last Monday i went and did a spot on the radio with two of my fellow cast members. I apologize for telling you it would be aired that day–silly me, i didn’t know it wasn’t going to be live. IT was recorded and will be aired some morning next week, which i’ll let [...]

Things you can do for people you’ve never met

For those of you on the SixtyOne, head on over and bump the hell out of everything that gets posted here. There’s a photo, and a story, and right now there’s one track by Glenn Case, who helped put together the project.
You can read more about the project here, from Michele AKA [...]

Cheesy Lovefest

Today was a fun practice. I was a little pre-occupied with thoughts of yard work when we first started. It’s not as bad outside as the weather people said it would be. They make it so hard to plan! Anyway, I was preoccupied. I was visualizing doing the yard work and then seeing it all [...]

Free Goon

Ever since I gave Bubba a copy of “Satan’s Sodomy Baby” for his birthday, I’ve been a fan of The Goon. That issue wasn’t quite as repellently offensive as I’d been led to believe, but it was enough to get me interested… and I just gave Djerzi a copy of volume 1 for Christmas. [...]

We’re on a Mog!

And, despite our eHarassment, the dude still had nice things to say about us!
In other news, I read this amazing and cogent article by Naomi Klein called “Disaster Capitalism” (not online, dammit) in the October issue of Harper’s. I’d like to think I have a lot to say about it, because it’s one of [...]

Lewis Lapham, a man who is full of himself

God I love Lewis Lapham. When he stepped down as editor of Harper’s this year, I was… well, mildly disappointed, since he’s still involved and since Roger Hodge seems like a fairly decent guy.
OK, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Harper’s is still like a little present from some idyllic futuristic society [...]

Changes we need to make (after watching the New Pornographers)

First thing is that we all need to grow a lot more hair. LOTS more. Those peeps have some hair!
Second thing is that we need to get a Dan Bejar. Man, he’s like a cross between Brad, Andy Kaufman and Tim Burton. So awesome.
Third thing……….we just need to be better. If we ever get to [...]

The Gertrude Fundraiser: A Wrap-Up

This may come as news to half of the band, but guess what? Tonight at the Gertrude Fundraiser’s silent auction, we put three songs on the block. And guess even more what? People ACTUALLY BID FOR THEM.
So now we’ve got to write and record the following three songs:
1. A TV Theme Song. [...]

One Half of DYM: 8/17/07

Will be playing a three-song acoustic set on Friday, August 17 at the Q Center. It’s part of a benefit for everybody’s favorite GLBT Press, Gertrude Press! The tickets are $10, but (and I can’t stress this enough) you can buy a ticket without feeling obligated to attend. Seriously. Small literary [...]

Greetings, Accidental Visitors

I don’t know what you were googling for that brought you here, perhaps it was “time traveling gum couriers,” but you’ve managed to stumble ass-first onto the blog of Delightful Young Man.
Delightful Young Man is a group of performers who perform performances. To get a sense of what our live shows are like, please watch [...]

Recording Roboctopus: Wrap-Up

As of 6pm last night, recording is finished on Roboctopus. There was some manchoir, there were some cowbell overdubs, and there was some pitch-correcting of my background vocals to make it sound like I can actually sing harmonies.
Much of the day was devoted to “Roboctowho?”, the “last” song on the album. [...]

Special Guest Star

For those of you who enjoyed his work on Princes & Princesses, we’re pleased to confirm that a Very Special Guest Star will be making an appearance on Roboctopus as well.
As for Roboctopus, recording is finished on 14 of the 17 tracks. Come next Thursday, “A Hero Who Can Hold You,” “Deeper Than Deep,” [...]

Thanks DYM for ruining my birthday!!

So, yes it’s true. We need to go back to the studio and re-record some of Roboctopus. The band has agreed to go back into the studio on my BIRTHDAY!! This is just another example of the lack of respect that I get from then band. Infinite Monkey didn’t even realize it’s my birthday weekend! [...]
