Among the many topics of conversation at the 2008 DYM Memorial Day Band BBQ, the one that stuck with me stemmed from Pennystripe showcasing her recent attempts at lyric writing with impromptu acoustic guitar accompaniment from Djerzi. 1 They even went to the trouble of coming up with a name for their act: Djerzistripe. Since I’m a goddamn masochist, I’ll be signing us up for every new music site that appears on my radar. Yes, there’s another one:
Stereofame
I haven’t taken the time to really look into this yet, but I just uploaded four songs.
EDIT: Make that two songs. There seems to be some sort of [...]
We sold two albums on eMusic, for a grand total of $12.58… WE ARE RICH.
Thanks to our album containing 17 tracks, that’s a lot closer to the $7/album we get from iTunes than I thought it would be.
This election cycle, Eloise and I had two lawn signs. Here are the results of the elections:
Steve Novick
42% of the vote (221,402); lost to Jeff Merkley who had 45% of the vote (237,258)
Jim Middaugh
22% of the vote; lost to Nick Fish who had 62% of the vote
It’s a good thing we didn’t get around [...]
The tracklist for the PDX Pop Now! compilation is out. Looking at the songs on the first list, I have this incredible feeling of wanting to take all my non-recyclable garbage and dump it into our neighbors’ backyard.
DISC 1
01 Au - “Are Animals”
02 Blue Cranes - “S.T.I.L.L.”
03 Meth Teeth - “Unemployment Forever”
04 The Joggers [...]
Because dressing up a cat is even funnier in Japanese.
1. You need to dress a cat. And you will say to a cat together with a family. “It has changed just for a moment”. [ "it being very dear" or ] You will pass pleasant one time.
Let’s examine the data accumulated thus far. These results may be preliminary, but certain distinct trends are apparent even at this early stage.
If we take “popularity” to indicate “songs enjoyed most often by the widest variety of consumers,” here are our most popular songs on the 61:
Everybody Hates Me
Roboctoresignation
I’m Happy With What You Are

But not today.

Second, Ken Silverstein:
That said, there are a few things that make me like Hillary. First, she’s a bloodthirsty monster who’ll stop at nothing in her quest for power. That is refreshing, given that the Democrats’ default presidential-campaign strategy is to whine about how rough the Republicans play [...]
I blame Djerzi. Or maybe I blame the 61 for not telling us sooner that “Everybody Hates Me” is, in fact, the most popular song on Roboctopus. Or I blame myself for ever entertaining the idea that a song where I sing lead might have a chance against Menomena, Kristen Hersh, and The [...]
From this week’s issue of Just Out:
There’s a scattering of applause as Middaugh wraps, then everyone heads inside and downstairs to a Christmas-light-bedecked basement, where Moore’s poli-pop band, Delightful Young Man, holds court with a too-cool-for-school performance of original tunes like “The Monster in the White House,” with these lyrics: “The president is hungry, he’s [...]
So the other night Eloise and I were talking about how we’d like to write some girl-vocal style songs. Then we both admitted that writing the lyrics is where the problem lies. Here is an example of a song comperable to my ability:

Alright. Who’s going to Free Comic Book Day tomorrow? I don’t care which one of you goes, but one of you better pick me up the Dark Horse Hellboy issue.
Here’s the store locator. Find one near you!
Eloise and I will be in Kingsburg, CA, for my brother’s wedding. They don’t even [...]
