“Ben, I Wish You Were My Girlfriend” is, according to the 61, our least popular song. Now, I’m not going to claim that it’s a great song or anything, but I really thought more people would like it. This may be one of those cases where I think a song is much, much better than it actually is — I was ridiculously pleased with myself after A) coming up with that stupid riff, and B) writing those awesome lyrics.
On the upside, it’s still more popular than two of the Jimmy Kaufmann solo songs…

Yeah – some songs are an acquired taste, and some may be over/under the heads of listeners who don’t know the back story or the person or subject involved. For example, my birthday song, “Mr. Courteosity”, is a freakin awesome song that portrays it’s Amazing subject matter in a humble light and should be sung instead of the National Anthem during this year’s Super Bowl – but I don’t think it would be very popular on the 61.
