HTWAOS, Part VIII

The wait is finally over, as is this series, which in my defense I thought would be much, much more interesting. Turns out writing about the creative process isn’t all that much fun, so tough nuggets.1

But now it’s time for you, our audience, to determine how close we got to providing a product of value for our commissioning clients. So here are the three songs2

True Love Turtles. A dedication song, from Sarah to Liz. This one was the craziest one to write, because we know Liz and Sarah. Also, Sarah gave us a long, long list of potential content suggestions. I think I managed to cram pretty much everything in there, but the main suggestion we took to heart was “a little bit of cheeziness is never frowned upon.”

Theme to Love Bus. A theme song for Michael, who told us that if his life was a TV show, he would have adventures related to getting mass transit for everyone, beautifying cities, and promoting love and respect for all. He also suggested that it should resemble the Golden Girls theme song. 3

The Arbitrary Apocalypse. A birthday song for Sandra. Here’s the criteria we were given by Steve, who was kind enough to purchase the song and bequeath it as a gift.

Sandra’s favorite musical genres are Indie Rock, Lo-Fi, Dream Pop, Bluegrass, Grunge, Trance. She loves reading, writing, music, and a bunch of other shit. She also wrote this, which was used as the starting point for the lyrical content of the song.

  1. Surprising, right? I mean, it’s usually hard to make me STOP talking about how awesome I am and how everything I do is totally bitchin. []
  2. It’s like we just put out a goddamn EP or something. []
  3. It totally doesn’t, we know that. []

Damned nice job – I love them all ! Although I have to say that of all your Apocalypse songs, Brooke’s is still my favorite (for obvious reasons).

And what’s this about my belt…?

Approximately one second after the thought “Where the hell do I mention Bubba and his belt in this song?” ran through my head…

Awesome! You can never have too much Bubba, or his kick-ass belt.

(I find using third person makes catch phrases much better)

I love the love that is Love Turtles. I like them all, but that is my favorite. I know because I kinda teared up a little bit at the end. Awwwww.

Awwww indeed! Yeah, it’s a nice song, and it came out a lot better than I thought it would. Maybe we should write more nice songs.

    We probably won’t.
