Djerzi came up with a good idea for a band photo this evening after a rousing game of “Keep It Up.” It’ll be six individual “escort” ads.
Shortly after hearing about this idea, Mike told us all about the dream he had where he and Bubba had to put on a pornographic floor show in a [...]
The work in progress currently known as “the Summer Album” now has an official title:
“Delightful Young Man: Musicians of Sound”
One reason why I’ll never be a great lyricist (and there’s more than one): I can’t stand writing grammatically incorrect sentences.
There’s a line in the chorus of “Octobot” that kills me every time I hear it. Nobody else seems all that bothered by it, and while there’s a good chance that nobody else pays attention to [...]
Yesterday I was in the car listening to “Star Bodies” five or six times thinking we should cover it. But an even better idea would be to write a song JUST LIKE IT except getting rid of that bogus “Take me to where your sister lives” bridge part. As much as I love The [...]
is ROCK AND ROLL.
Alright, I killed the pop-up comments. The only benefit it had was that you could see which html tags were allowed (and that’s something I still haven’t figured out how to change… all the documentation I’ve read says that the img tag should be working just fine).
Anyway. Just post an [...]
Apart from having to meet new people, the worst thing about being in a band is having to take a band photo. We’ll be playing a fundraiser for CoToP Theatre1 in July, and we’ve been asked for a photo that the organizers can use for publicity purposes.
Now there’s a few ways to [...]
…we should feature our John Cage influences more prominently. Also, it should be introduced by someone as befuddled/annoyed/amused as this talk show host:

Maybe three or four people out there will find this amusing, but here’s .1
And yes, those are Eloise’s lead vocals. Using only the POWER OF COMPUTERS, I’ve made her sound JUST LIKE AN ANGEL.
Actually, I think I might prefer this version of the song… [↩]
As of 6pm last night, recording is finished on Roboctopus. There was some manchoir, there were some cowbell overdubs, and there was some pitch-correcting of my background vocals to make it sound like I can actually sing harmonies.
Much of the day was devoted to “Roboctowho?”, the “last” song on the album. [...]
The new Harper’s website is chock full of stuff I don’t have time to read on a daily basis. I wish I did have the time, because I’d be reading CRAZY-ASS JUXTAPOSITIONS OF CONTEMPORARY NEWS STORIES AND AMERICAN POLITICAL HISTORY LIKE THIS ONE every day.
I hate to drive traffic to the damn thing, but there are a few rough mixes posted to Delightful Young Man’s MySpace.
As this is purely a publicity stunt, those of you who care may want to wait for the real mixes.
Stupid Mercury blog. I wish I could get Pickle Surprise out of my head.
Anyway, what I meant to write is this: Last week, I was wandering by a multicultural celebration of sorts and watched a band loading up after their performance. The only woman in the band (judging from her sexy senorita outfit, [...]
I’m adopting a new persona when I perform. Pay special attention to the gestures that go along with the lyrics.

I was collecting various bits and pieces of lyrics to prepare for the Summer album we’re about to start writing when I stumbled across my old notes for the “Delightful Young Man Kids’ Album.”
The project eventually turned into the full-fledged rock opera that we can’t shut up about, which is kind of a shame, because [...]
On Monday morning, at 7:40am, I’m interviewing Larry The Cable Guy. Is there anything you’d like me to ask? Feel free to suggest questions in the comments.
For inspiration, here is an early performance, before he was rechristened:

It was early on a Sunday morning, and we were recording the most pain-in-the-ass song on the album. Knowing beforehand that it would be a total pain in the ass, we decided to shoot for a sloppy one-take “Dylan & the Band” sound. It took us about six takes to get there. [...]
The recording was a lot of fun and my birthday was celebrated. Djerzi’s awesome wife and BF brought me a tasty cake made with real butter! It was so good.
I was looking at pictures of myself with long hair. It was totally a mistake to cut it. I think the long hair gave the band [...]
Our Fabulous Producer Jeremy Romagna gave us a rough mix of “Octobot” to listen to.
It’s the first time I’ve ever felt the need to play air guitar along with a song that I actually play guitar on. Weird.
